Waiting for Santa is an energetic work depicting a child’s anticipation of Santa’s arrival on Christmas Eve. Pure joy can be seen on their face as they look out their window hoping to catch a glimpse of Santa and his reindeer soaring through the sky making his way to their home. As the child awaits, sleepiness overtakes them and they fall into a wonder-filled dream of Santa climbing down the chimney with his bag full of amazing gifts.

Power and Dominion is a dramatic work for concert band that takes inspiration from epic and adventurous video game soundtracks. This composition takes the listener on a musical journey through feelings of excitement, uncertainty, heartbreak, and victory, all while weaving in and out of battle. The brutality and shifting powers found in action adventure video game campaigns are depicted through soaring melodies, driving percussion, and building textures, ultimately resulting in the hero’s everlasting dominion.

Our Land (This Land is your Land) was written to explore variations both in meter signature and melody. The composition begins with a traditional trumpet fanfare leading into an energetic opening. After a hint of the melody, the piece moves into a multi-meter development of melodic motifs. The middle section is slower and portrays some of the growing pains our country has gone through. You hear dialogue between different instruments, questions and arguments leading into a quiet statement of the main melody. The bombastic ending will have the audience clapping right along to this famous patriotic melody.

Falcon 9 (2021)

Falcon 9 is a rocket designed and manufactured by SpaceX certified for transporting humans to the International Space Station, and the only commercial rocket to launch humans to orbit.
This composition was written to portray a Falcon 9 voyage beginning with the predawn quietness, moving into an intense ramped-up rhythmical launch. The rocket soars through the atmosphere with epic music taking on the shape of the rocket’s trajectory into space. As the rocket reaches outer space, the music changes into a slower suspended sound with a floaty and ethereal melody. The rocket returns to earth using previously established themes over the epic rhythmic launch music to complete the mission.

Fire Trail (2021)

Fire Trail is an upbeat and adventurous piece for young band. The title comes from an intense hiking path in the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains of the same name.
Written in an ABA form, the piece begins with an energetic melody and a syncopated rhythmic drive that continues throughout the piece. The middle section settles into a more relaxed, lengthened melody, but the ever-present rhythmic drive builds to a modulated recapitulation of the main theme as an exciting conclusion to the piece.
Saddle Up (2020)

Saddle Up depicts the life of a cowboy driving a herd of cattle across the western plains. Inspired by the music of Aaron Copland, the piece is written in ABA form. The optimistic beginning features an energetic melody which depicts the rugged terrain and its unevenness.
Transitioning to a peaceful campfire scene, the woodwinds and brass exchange a flowing melodic waltz. A triumphant restatement of the opening melody brings the piece to a resonating end, completing another successful drive.
