This Is My Father’s World, a poem written by Maltbie Davenport Babcock was published in 1901. Originally the poem had 16 verses of four lines each. The tune for this hymn, Terra Beata, was originally a traditional English folk tune. Franklin L. Sheppard selected three of the verses and arranged the tune for publication in the Presbyterian church school hymnal in 1915. This colorful arrangement, which can be also be used for congregational singing, contains a brief introduction and interludes in between verses. The piece ends with a repeat of the last four lines of verse three and then turns to the introduction material to conclude.
